With all the 100 degree days in August, the night fishing has been relatively slow on most nights. Some nights, we would have 2-3 hour periods without a fish. But this latest cool front really got the bass turned on. It was cool enough for me to wear a jacket Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night. Friday night, we started at 7:30 PM and were catching schooling bass immediately after we got started. When it got dark, we switched to 12" Texas rigged worms and caught several nice bass up to 9 pounds. After midnight, we threw some jigs and caught some nice bass up to about 7 pounds. And at daybreak, we had one of the best topwater mornings I've ever experienced. We sat in one spot and caught about 35 bass in about 45 minutes. It was about as good of a trip as you can dream of in August. See our pictures at http://www.bassfishing.org/pictures/recent.htm
The lake has come down a couple of feet in the past month. There's probably at least 3 times as many stumps exposed as there was only a month ago. If you like pitching to stumps, this is a good time to do it. There's also a ton of matted vegetation all around the lake. This is a great time to fish a frog or other topwater baits.
We had a real good spawn this year, so there's a ton of little bass. The spawn got a late start, but because of that, we didn't get the big cold fronts that ruin the spawn for so many bass. I think we can expect a much better than average Fall season for numbers.

Fall is just around the corner and I still have a lot of open dates. Fall is the best time to take a beginner, and it's also the best time to learn how to read a graph.
The McDonald's tournament is in September. Hiring a guide to prefish is allowed, so you may want to consider that. I can take you out in either mine or your boat. I could give my recommendations to help you get more legal fish. I fished a tournament last weekend and I had my limit only 16 minutes into the tournament.
The way they were biting yesterday, I could have got a limit in 5 minutes.
